Your steps were there,

Newly carved, still looking beautiful.

I'd compare you with them, asking why you're being you,

But it was just me, feeling all important and as usual,

I was selfish. 

The steps were looking more obvious.

You stepped in hard, leaving traces everywhere.

And I learned to put myself in your shoes,

And it was me, trying to look at you as you,

Just like my first claim when I told you my wish. 

Like every other night, 

I learned to lead you to my garden,

As they told me I should trust you more.

But I didn't want to dive in any deeper than this,

You seemed to walk it slow,

And I'd do the same.

The surface was all we got,

But as days went by,

Let the page sink in and never come back,

Making meanings we never ask for.
